Regions and a Visit from Friends!

On Thursday it was the Regional XC meet! It was in Martinsville this year with a fun course that included hills, trails, flat stretches, and mud swamps! Kayla ran 21:01 and got 10th place overall, making All Region! The boys won and the girls got 2nd, so both are going to the state meet! Here are some photographs: Today we had the Pierson's over! It had been quite a while since we saw them.

Fancy Shmancy

Today's Sunday started off like you would expect, with church! It was inside today but hopefully it will be outside again next week. Mom, Kayla, and Dad went to church in the morning and then the rest of the kids and Mom and Dad went in the afternoon.  For brunch, Mom made waffles. Waffles have begun to be a common Sunday brunch especially since Mom got a new waffle maker for Christmas that makes 2 at a time! For youth group at Belmont, it was "Fancy" night! That meant that everyone dressed up! It was lots of fun, at the beginning it was like a dance and the whole sanctuary was cleared and there were disco lights and music! It was a blast. The point of Fancy night was to talk about what's on the outside. The Pharisees had it all together and looked great on the outside, but on the inside, they didn't have the right view of Jesus and were hypocrites. Afterwards, Kayla went to Olive Garden with some of her friends! That was also a ton of fun. Here are some pics:

Saturdayyy

Today the Briz's came over to hang out. They played pickleball, read Curious George, and had Kraft macaroni and cheese.  Sam and Lucy both had soccer games! Thankfully the rain held off until afterwards.  Jack was kind and helped carry a chair. Kayla ran and also went and borrowed a dress from Kenna.  Mom and Dad both went on a run before it got to hot. I must say, these blog posts aren't as eventful as they used to be. We have some exciting events coming up in the next week that will be more interesting!

FRIDAY

Honestly, there isn't much to report from today.  Kayla went to school and then went to practice at the VT XC course and did mile repeats in the rain. The team is on the final stretch leading up to the region meet.  Lucy did school, cleaned the basement, and went to Sam's soccer practice. She also played outside with Sam and Dylan.  Sam had soccer practice and hung out with Dylan.  Jack is out and about as usual, living the night life.

Reunited

Today Mom, Sam, and Lucy came home! They had a wonderful trip at Mimi and Pop's but are glad to be home.  In other news, Kayla went to a JV XC meet but didn't compete because she is varsity. Jack went to a concert that the rest of the family contemplated going to but decide against it. Dad went to work and took Hannah and Kayla to school.  That's about all for today! Perhaps tomorrow will be more eventful!

Busy Days

Phew! Today was a busy day! For Kayla, the day started out by going to the New River Trail at 8:30am and getting in an 8 mile run. She got home around 11:15 and did some homework before her friends Hannah, Jeremy, Dillon, Josh, and Ben came over at 1:30! They played pickleball, 4 square, Spikeball, basketball, hockey, badmitton, and just hung out! They left at 5:30, at which point Jack came home from work with ChickfilA for Kayla!  Jack did his college class in the morning and then left for work at about 12. He also went to the turf in the evening. Dad was home for part of the day doing work. He had a session meeting this evening. Mom, Sam, and Lucy are still at Mimi and Pop's. I haven't received word on what events happened there today, but I do know that they made a trip to Trader Joes and perhaps Yorktown. They will be returning tomorrow!

An Eventful Day

Today was quite the day! I'll start at the very beginning, a very good place to start.  In the morning, Kayla left for school. Dad had to drive her and Hannah because Mom, Sam, and Lucy left for Mimi and Pop's! They left a little before 9 and had a safe trip! Lucy texted Kayla quite a lot during the ride. They arrived safely and were glad to see the family. They played pool, 5 Crowns, and the Wii. They are all enjoying themselves, but we will be glad to be reunited on Thursday. Kayla went to cross country practice after school where she had a nice 40 minute run. She had to run on her own because McKenna and Hannah were aqua-jogging and Summer has begun to run with Cadence, so Kayla does not currently have a group who is her pace. It was still a successful run despite the heat. After the run, they did strength and stretched down. Kara was very kind and brought Kayla home because Hannah was getting picked up from the CAC at 4:15 and XC didn't end until 4:50.  Kayla and Kar...
